เมื่อวันที่ 10 พฤศจิกายนที่ผ่านมา คณะกรรมการป้องกันและปราบปรามการทุจริตแห่งชาติ หรือ คณะกรรมการ ป.ป.ช. เป็นตัวแทนขององค์กรด้านการป้องกันและปราบปรามการทุจริต ร่วมประกาศเจตนารมณ์กับนายอภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ นายกรัฐมนตรี ผู้นำหน่วยงานภาครัฐ และนายดุสิต นนทะนาคร ประธานกรรมการหอการค้าไทย ผู้แทนจากภาคเอกชน ได้ทำพิธีลงนามประกาศเจตนารมณ์ต่อต้านการทุจริตคอร์รัปชันในกระบวนการจัดซื้อจัดจ้างภาครัฐ ในงาน Thailand Anti-Corruption EXPO 2010 หรืองานนิทรรศการต่อต้านการทุจริตของประเทศไทย ที่ศูนย์การประชุมแห่งชาติสิริกิติ์ เพื่อแสดงจุดยืนที่ชัดเจนของทั้งสามภาคส่วน นั่นคือ ภาครัฐ ภาคเอกชน และภาคประชาสังคม ว่าจะร่วมมือกันต่อต้านการทุจริตพิชิตคอร์รัปชันในประเทศไทยอย่างจริงจัง โดยคณะกรรมการ ป.ป.ช. คาดหวังว่า การลงนามและการจัดงานครั้งนี้ จะช่วยให้ดัชนีชี้วัดภาพลักษณ์คอร์รัปชัน (Corruption Perceptions Index หรือ CPI ) ของประเทศไทยสูงขึ้นถึง 5 คะแนน ซึ่งในปี พ.ศ. 2553 ไทยได้คะแนนความโปร่งใสของชาติเพียง 3.5 คะแนนเท่านั้น
On November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Committee (NACC), representing the organizations that prevent and suppress corruption, joining with PM Abhisit Vejjajiva, the leader of public sector, and Mr. Dusit Nontanakorn, the President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the representative of private sector, co-signed the anti-corruption declaration for public procurement process in Thailand Anti-Corruption Expo 2010 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This expressed the strong standpoint of three sectors, which were public, private and civil society sectors, to intensively collaborate in combating corruption in Thailand. NACC expected that this act and event would increase Thailand’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) to five. In 2010, Thailand gained only 3.5 for the national transparency.
In order to enhance morality and ethical standards in Thai society, the National Anti-Corruption Commission or NACC is organizing the nation’s first anti-corruption exposition. This white event is the nation’s declaration to the global community to become an anti-all-corruptions society. Thailand Anti-Corruption EXPO 2010 will be held during 10-13 November 2010, from 09.00 a.m. to 07.00 p.m., at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Zone C, Bangkok.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) of Thailand is an independent government agency responsible for investigating and combating corruption in Thailand. It receives and investigates complaints of corruption involving state officials, has the power to gather evidence, recommend prosecution, freeze assets, and impose penalties. The NACC also promotes anti-corruption measures, provides education and training on corruption prevention, and monitors the assets and liabilities of public officials. It operates with a mandate of impartiality and transparency, and its commissioners are appointed by the King of Thailand on the recommendation of the Senate.
