EGCO Group reports a consolidated net profit of Baht 4,257 million for the first six months of 2008, representing a decrease of Baht 754 million or 15% compared to the same period of 2007, which was caused mainly by a decrease of the share of profits from BLCP. Nevertheless, EGCO Group intends to move forward its development on both local and international IPP and SPP business.

Khanom Power Plant, a subsidiary of EGCO Group, the first independent power producer in Thailand led by Mrs.Krisna Pinkaew (middle), Deputy MD-Finance & Administration recently received the ‘National Safety Awards’ for Safety, Occupational Health, and Environment for 2008 from the Ministry of Labor for the ninth consecutive years. During the same occasion, Mr.Watchai Chaitawat (right), Security Officer of Khanom Power Plant received a Security Officers award for outstanding performance for 2008 as well.

Mr.Visit Akaravinak, President of EGCO Group, disclosed that Conal Holdings Co. (CHC), a joint venture between the Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO Group) and Alsons Consolidated Resources Inc. (Philippines), determines to construct a 200-megawatt clean coal power plant worth 450 million dollars in the Philippines. The plan aims to increase efficiency and to establish energy security within the country, which could otherwise have to face with an energy shortage within the year 2012. Conal Holdings Co. plans to start the construction of the mentioned power plant by the middle of 2009. The plant will be designed so that it will be able to accommodate an increase in its generating capacity to up to 900 megawatts.
นายวิศิษฐ์ อัครวิเนค กรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ บริษัท ผลิตไฟฟ้า จำกัด (มหาชน) เปิดเผยว่า โคนัล โฮลดิ้งส์ คอมพานี ซึ่งเป็นบริษัทร่วมทุนระหว่างบริษัท ผลิตไฟฟ้า จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ เอ็กโก กรุ๊ป และบริษัท อัลสันส์ คอนโซลิเดเต็ด รีซอร์เซส อิงค์ ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ มีแผนดำเนินการสร้างโรงไฟฟ้าพลังถ่านหินขนาด 200 เมกะวัตต์ มูลค่า 450 ล้านดอลลาร์ ในประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ เพื่อเพิ่มศักยภาพและสร้างความมั่นคงด้านพลังงานแก่ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ ที่อาจเกิดภาวะขาดแคลนไฟฟ้าขึ้นในภูมิภาคภายในปี 2555 โดยโคนัล โฮลดิ้ง คอมพานี วางแผนที่จะเริ่มก่อสร้างโรงไฟฟ้าดังกล่าวภายในกลางปี 2552 ซึ่งจะสามารถขยายกำลังการผลิตไฟฟ้าได้ถึง 900 เมกะวัตต์
