Mr.Visit Akaravinak, President of EGCO Group, disclosed that Conal Holdings Co. (CHC), a joint venture between the Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO Group) and Alsons Consolidated Resources Inc. (Philippines), determines to construct a 200-megawatt clean coal power plant worth 450 million dollars in the Philippines. The plan aims to increase efficiency and to establish energy security within the country, which could otherwise have to face with an energy shortage within the year 2012. Conal Holdings Co. plans to start the construction of the mentioned power plant by the middle of 2009. The plant will be designed so that it will be able to accommodate an increase in its generating capacity to up to 900 megawatts.
